Wipeout was one of the most enduring games to be released on the PlayStation. It redefined what cool games could look and play like. It had design, a soundtrack that was actually worth listening to, and addictive gameplay. Wipeout Fusion is the game that you have been secretly waiting for, admit it. This is futuristic high-speed racing at its finest. Step into the driver's seat and hold on for dear life. The very first instalment of the Wipeout series was a game that needed to be mastered to be truly enjoyed. If any contact was made with the track sides, practically all forward momentum would be lost. Avoiding touching the edges is hard when travelling at speeds of 300 mph, although when you managed to fly round the tracks at these speeds, it felt fantastic. Three games later and Sony has shifted the focus of the game away from the hardcore audience and made it more appealing the mainstream market. Wipeout Fusion is so much more than fast-paced futuristic racing, one of its coolest features is the implementation of weapons for the crafts. Players can make use of a wide variety of destructive weapons to cause damage to the other opponents that are sharing the track. Weapons like earthquakes that ripple the entire track, and missiles that if timed correctly can completely obliterate another craft. Wipeout is best played with friends to really fire up the competitive juices. Whether it's setting and beating lap times, or split-screen action you're after, Fusion doesn't disappoint.
